چکیده

This paper discusses the design and development of moderate and intense low oxygen dilution (MILD) combustion burners, including details of the computational fluid dynamics process, step-by-step from designing the model until post-processing. A 40 mm diameter bluff-body burner was used as the flame stabilizer. The fuel nozzle was placed in the center with a diameter of 1mm and an annular air nozzle with an opening size of 1,570 mm 2 , and four EGR pipes were used. Non-premixed combustion with a turbulent realizable k-epsilon was used in the simulation. The fuel used is low calorific value gas (biogas). The synthetic biogas was a mixture of 60% methane and 40% carbon dioxide. The simulation was successfully achieved during the MILD regime where the ratio of maximum-to-average temperature was less than the required 23%.

Study on the effect of using reformed biogas as a low reactivity fuel in a dual-fuel engine (RCCI)

The scarceness of non-renewable energies, rising fossil fuels prices, as well as strict environmental regulations have forced many researchers to focus on utilizing environmentally friendly renewable energies such as biogas in internal combustion engines. Variety in raw materials and process of biogas production results in different components and percentages of various elements, including meth...

Numerical Modelling of Porous Radiant Burners Using Full and Reduced Kinetics Mechanisms

The present paper compares full kinetics mechanisms in numerical modelling of porous radiant burners (PRB), with their reduced forms. The two most frequently used mechanisms of methane combustion (GRI3.0 and Miller) were selected and their effects were examined on temperature, species concentration, burning speed, and pollutant emission. While the findings of numerical simulation of PRB sho...

Numerical simulation of Ramin's combustion chamber to investigate the factors affecting the production of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide

The boiler is one of the most vulnerable parts of a power plant, which is responsible for producing steam for moving turbines.  In order to increase the thermal efficiency of the power plant, it is necessary to prevent heat loss in the boiler combustion chamber and simultaneously control the environmental pollutant parameters such as NOx and CO.  Failure to control environmental pollutants will...

Characterization and Sensitivity Analysis of a Turbulent Diffusion Flame in Diluted Hot Coflow

Large-eddy simulation of a jet flame in a hot diluted coflow has been performed. The burner under consideration was operated in the moderate and intense low oxygen dilution (MILD) combustion regime, and utilizes a three-stream feed system to supply fuel, diluted coflow, and air to the burner (Dally, B. B., Karpetis, A. N., and Barlow, R. S., Proc. Combust. Inst., Vol. 29, 2002, pp. 1147–1154). ...
